Implant Supported Dentures

The bone that holds the teeth in place is there for only one purpose, that is to hold the teeth in place. It is called alveolar bone and if it doesn’t have any teeth to hold, your body will slowly resorb it until there is no bone left. It will resorb all the way until the ridge is gone. The alveolar bone is what a denture sits on. When it is gone, the ridge that your denture is supposed to sit on is gone too and the denture becomes hard to wear. It moves around when you try to chew causing sore spots and threatening to fall out. People at this stage of bone loss usually resort to gluing their dentures in place with a denture adhesive.
There is a way to prevent all this bone loss. The best solution is to place implants before it resorbs away. They are made out of titanium and when placed in the bone will be treated as though they were natural roots; so we can use the implants to keep the bone from resorbing in the first place.
If you have already lost a lot of bone, we can use implants to attach the dentures to so they won’t move around and cause sores when you eat.
Implants have opened up so many miraculous possibilities that weren’t available just a few short years ago. Come in for a free consultation and let us tell you what can be done in your case.
