Extractions
Sometimes teeth need to be removed.
- Primary teeth that are not coming out when they should and are hindering the
permanent teeth that are trying to come in.
- Permanent teeth that are so broken down that they can no longer be repaired.
- Third molars (wisdom teeth) that don’t have room to erupt into a normal position.
- Permanent teeth that are in the way of getting your teeth straightened.
It is important to remove these
teeth as gently and with as little trauma to the
bone as possible. Bone will resorb after any extraction; but if the bone is heavily
traumatized by the extraction the amount of resorption will be dramatic. If an
implant, bridge, or a denture is to be placed, the loss of bone can be a
complication that will be difficult to overcome.
Dr Dodge has been to
courses designed to teach atraumatic extraction
techniques and he will take the time and make the effort necessary to remove your
tooth as simply and painlessly and with as little damage to the surrounding bone as possible.
If the thought of having a
tooth out bothers you, it can be done under oral sleep
sedation and you can gently snooze through the procedure and not remember it afterward.
